Wednesday
The three main attractions for the day were the coal burning power station (TES), the leather museum, and a gallery visit. The power-plant was located in Sostanj, and was very interesting. We were privileged enough to see the control room, and to learn about what goes on in the station. It was a great way to see first hand how Slovenia uses its natural resources. Lets not forget walking around on one of the stacks of the power-plant! It was so high up, and gave us the most spectacular view of the landscape of Slovenia and its lakes. The power station provides energy to 1/3 of Slovenia's power. After the power station we visited the leather museum. Who knew the Slovenia would have such a large leather industry!? We got to see the machines used to prepare hides to become leather, and other machines that were involved in the manufacturing of the leather. After the leather museum, it was off to see a local artist at his gallery, a few minutes from the station. The artist explained to us the meaning of his artworks, and his inspirations. He gave us all our own personal paintings as a gift! All of the paintings were so beautiful, and it was really nice of him to do that.
